This one's mine. I felt in the mood to do something a bit happier. Everyone says my voice suits ballads more, but I like having a laugh and enjoying myself. I mean, I'm 23 for god sake, and all I do is write and sing about HEAVY stuff, so here's my take on the song that I posted the other day. Keep in mind, there are four people singing this normally, so I've had to put my own vocals all over the place to keep up..lol!

Taxis, cops, and new opportunities!

 

 

Howdy folks....How's it goin??

 

 

I've not been in long...it's 2:09, and I only got home from work an hour ago and I finished at 11pm! My bloody Taxi never showed up, leaving me stranded! I ended up sharing a taxi with a friend who finished at midnight, but hers didn't turn up till gone 12:30...GRRRRRR!!

 

Today, I've almost been recruited into the police force and had to pose as a witness at work. I witnessed a member of staff being AWFUL to a duty manager, just because she NICELY asked him NOT to chew gum at the tills. He just stared at her and carried on chewing. She asked him again, but he insulted her. I felt so sorry for her. She's known as an 'evil bitch' at work by people, but that's only because she's strict with things and HAS to do her job. If you're right with her, she's right with you, and although she's complained at me ONCE, I consider her a friend and we always have a laugh. So anyways, he put in a formal complaint about her attitude towards him, and I've had to come forward and say that she didn't do or say anything wrong. She didn't even have a tone to her voice. She was nice as pie!!

 

But anyways, I served an on duty police man today, and as he was cute, we got chatting (I'm a sucker for a man in uniform). After a few minutes chatting, I jokingly said 'Next time you come in, bring a spare uniform and badge and I'll come and work with you'. He looked at me kinda excitedly and asked if I'd wanna join. I said yes, but don't have much luck getting an application form, so he pulled a card from his back pocket and handed it to me. It's the recruitment line. He says they'll take me on now 'cos they're 'Crying out for people'. I can't believe my luck lately...lol! I'll keep ya posted.

 

Can ya imagine me on the beat?? I can picture it now.....Two muggers running from the scene of the crime......'PC Ste' in hot pursuit, holding onto his utility belt yelling 'Come back ya buggers.......I got a brolly and I'm not afraid to use it!!'.....One mugger falls, scraping his knees...I yell, 'Oooooh, are ya alright love? That looked well nasty!!'....LOL!!

 

Another thing is, a guy I work with is thinking about setting up his own business soon and he wants to know if I'll go and work for him. He's had managerial experience before and wants to go into running his own cafe type place. I can't believe all of these opportunities coming my way!!

 

But...I'm sticking with my singing in the long run. Getting REAL lessons soon and can't wait!!

Rain and traitors......

Hello J-Landibu'ians,

 

How are ya?

 

Horrible day...horrible, horrible, horrible, but I was expecting that after yesterdays' extremely lucky day. The flooding in the UK is carrying on, although it hasn't affected us this time. It makes me laugh how some are saying that the floods are getting worse now, because they didn't see it here a month ago..lol! We knew it was this bad since then. All those times that I've seen flooding stories from around the world on T.V. None of us realised that it could start happening here! Strange days that we're living in isn't it? The worlds' temperature's increasing, the weather's gone insane, and even foreign insects are moving up the globe. Are we all just confused as hell right now or what? It got me the other day. I was talking to an old lady at work and she started talking about the weather and how different things are now. It was horrible, 'cos as she was talking of how things were 'back in the day', I could see in her eyes that she was scared, shocked  and upset at the state of things now. She talked of how summers in the past were always warm and lovely, and then compared it to now! I know what she means though, 'cos as kids, we'd enjoy none stop sunshine and heat during the 6 week holidays from school. Seriously, I can hardly ever remember a bad day back then, and it is sad. Really sad.

 

Anyways, moving on...

 

Me and my group of mates at work have realised that we have a traitor in our midst. Someone is reporting back to the managers with everything that we talk about, and I mean everything! We've been pointing the finger at everyone (see, they're playing with our minds, trying to turn us against each other!..lol!) but I definitely know who's to blame now. I've set up a little test. I've told this particular individual a white lie and I guarantee that it'll spread round the shop like wildfire. Come Tuesday (my next shift), I'll know who's doing the shit stirring, and I can'twait to confront them about it. (Jerry Springer audience voice - That bitch is goin' down fool!!) lol! Only kidding, I wont be telling everyone about it 'cos I wouldn't want her work life to be hell, but I will let her know that the gossip that I gave her was a lie, let her know that I know and leave it that. That might make her stop and think about what she's telling, and to whom!!

 

No matter what, if you've never heard this song before and are feeling a little down, you MUST watch this video. Consider it a personal favour. Yes it's cheesy, yes it's getting old now, and yes, the band have since split, but the words really cheer me up on a bad day! Hell, if we all thought like this, it might make terrorists drop their bombs and dance with the rest of us..hehe! I totally forgot about the song and re-discovered it yesterday....WOO HOO! All pooped out!

 

Where to start when describing the day I've had?

 

Well, I was supposed to start work at 6am today, which usually means that I'm up at 4am to get ready (I rush for nobody...hehe!) but at 3:30am, I was still laid wide awake. I ended up calling into work and telling them that I couldn't make it for 6am but would come in later to make up my hours if they wanted, so they told me to go in when I'd had some sleep. I called them when I woke at 9am to say I'd be in between 10 - 11am, but lo and behold, the 3 buses I have to catch to work were ALL late. Well, probably just the first one was late so I ended up missing the others by seconds. I shamefully rolled into work at 12:15pm, all ready to take a verbal beating from the duty manager (who has a reputation for being mean). I got changed in the locker room and got out onto the shop floor by 12:30. I could see the duty manager standing right down at the bottom section of the store, so I crept toward her, trying to dodge behind every customer I could find so that I could give her the element of surprise, but she spotted me right away and stared at me the entire way down the walk of shame. I walked up to her and painfully said 'Come on them....let me have it', thinking she was gonna yell at me, but ya know what, she looked at me, gave me a smile and then broke out into laughter. She then said 'Ya know Ste, in all of my years of working here, we've never had an employee come in 6 and a half hours late and get away with it. Get to work before I slap ya ass!', and carried on laughing, along with the duty manager. I was so shocked!!! I was still waiting for the lecture, but it never came. Instead, she told me which till to go on and said 'Thanks love'. Now if that wasn't a gift from up above, then I don't know what is! haha!

 

I spent the first 2 hours jumping from till to till, taking people off for their breaks, then later, I was called to the BIG manager's office for a 'review'. Again, I thought I was in for it, but instead, they asked if there was anything THEY could improve for ME!!! I almost said nothing (as I had bent the rules a LOT today), but instead, I took this as an opportunity to complain about my 15 minute breaks, which never gives me enough time for a cigarette, something to eat AND a pee. They listened, assured me that everyone gets the same amount of time for a break when they only work for 5 hours, BUT they offered me half an hours' break EVERY TIME I'm on, so long as I stay for 15 minutes extra a day. How could I say no?! THEN they ask me what I can do to prevent being late for a Saturday shift again, so I jokingly ask for my shift to be changed, AND THEY AGREED with a smile! I mean, oh my god, am I pushing my luck here or WHAT?! So as from two weeks today, I get 30 minute breaks, leave at quarter past the hour AND start at 12 noon every Saturday, which is MUCH better! I'm soooo thankful and speechless that they agreed to help me so much!!

 

They asked me to work till 8, and by 6pm, I'd not been sent for my break (which is against the law as we're supposed to have a break every 3 hours). I hadn't mentioned it because they'd been so great with me, I didn't wanna seem rude, but I was soooo hungry and had to go, so I called one of the bosses to ask them if I could go for my 30 minutes (I always get 30 mins on a Saturday). It turns out, when I'd been called for my 'review' in the office, they'd assumed that I was on a break, so they'd marked it down wrong...grrr! I eventually went though and enjoyed every second.

 

I had a great day, with lovely customers too. I love a good gossip with a complete stranger. You can find out all kinds of things, like, I never knew that Harry potter books had a kids sleeve, AND an adults sleeve. It's useless info, but there ya go..lol! Oh, we've sold HUNDREDS of those books since it's release yesterday. Everytime we sell one, we have to type a certain code in, and I can't get it outta my head cos I've typed it sooo bloody many times....lol!

 

On the way home, the bus from work took ages before it dropped me in Hillsborough. Then the Hillsborough bus was 30 mins late but it eventually turned up. I took a seat and tried to warm myself up, just to be thrown off for a further 25 mins as it had broke down!! To make matters worse, there was an evil drunk guy shouting at the driver, so threeof us had to keep things cool. Then after all the waiting,the driver tells us to get back on as the bus was now fixed! I couldn't believe it! I finished work at 8:15, and Anthony finished at 9:30, but we both ended up on the same last bus of the day. Just goes to show eh? lol!

 

Anyways, sorry it's been long winded, but I'm in a chatty mood right now.

 

OOH, good news, I've applied for THIS. This, along with something else I'm venturing into will be GREAT for me. I'll meet so many people too, all with the same passion, so I can't wait!

 

So all in all, a fair day with it's share of good and bad, but I can't complain. I'm getting up early again as I have to do it all again tomorrow. 12-5pm...oh joy..lol!

 

Ok, I'll shut up now....lol!

One armed Lil!

Well what a week it's been, but today has been better. I had such a laugh with my mates at work as my manager was lovingly addressing me as 'One armed Lil' and came home feeling all refreshed. I've been bandaged up on the tills so every customer was asking what I'd done. I told them that I'd fallen down the stairs...haha! Sounded better than saying that I'd attacked an inanimate object...;-P

 

Forgot to mention the other day, I was in 'Boots' in town and wanted to buy a drink but didn't have any cash on me so I was gonna go thirsty, but just as I realised that I had no cash, I looked down and found a pound coin looking up at me. Only something small, but it cheered me up for the rest of the day..lol! Not as much as when I found £40 at the back of a bus one time..;-)

 

Hey, do any of you remember Ainsley, also known as Salonrose123 on aol? She had a journal a while ago and then another one called 'Second time around'. Well I've been worrying about her lately as I'd heard NOTHING from her, so I text her earlier today. She is doing great....better than great actually....there's only 6 weeks to go before she gives birth! How cool is that!!! She had to get rid of her computer to make room for the baby, so that's why she's vanished, but she says she misses all of us and hopes to be back one day, so I feel better for having got in touch with her.

 

 

I'm getting VERY much into music again lately, and I've been enjoying some new stuff from kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne and Bon Jovi. Here's his latest song from his new album 'Lost Highway' which I love!

Thanks to all of you for your comments and general 'help' lately. I really appreciate it!!!!

 

Last night ended badly when me and my brother had an almighty row on the phone. Years worth of stuff came up and we were both brutally honest, but he took things too far and basically told his girlfriend that I was only angry because I'd not taken my 'meds', which is absolute crap. The only 'meds' i'm on is hayfever and a tablet to help me sleep at night, and I don't even think I need that anymore. The doctor put me on the sleeping tablet last year when I was having those attacks, but they're so rare now that I don't think I should be on it now. I have NEVER been on any anti-depressants or anything which is 'mind altering' so to come out with something so evil and childish has just gone to show me that even now, years later, my brother's not changed and never will, so I've called it quits with him for good. I want no contact with him whatsoever. When I hear or read about stories like this from other people, it really saddens me. 'Brothers shouldn't be enemies' and all that kinda stuff, but this really isn't bothering me. Well no, I guess that's wrong. This bothers me for my Mum's sake. We're her only two and it can't be nice for her to know that we hate each other, but what can I say? We do and that's that. I've probably only seen him about 20 times in 10 years anyways, so it's not like it's a huge life changing deal for me. Forgetting that I have a brother isn't anything new for me, only this time, I WANT to forget him. Mum was upset as she wants me to be an uncle to his kids whenever they come along, but I don't wanna know. It sounds harsh, but there's stuff that I wont talk about on here that's drove me to feel like this. I guess the two biggest things that hurt me was him telling me that he's wanted to see me living 'On the streets' for years, which I think is just god awful. I could understand if I was a drunk, or a drug addict that was causing problems for my Mum, but neither is the case, so god knows where that desire has come from, and secondly, the fact that he's telling his new bit of fluff (about the 6th this year) that I'm crazy when she doesn't even know me. But, ya know, dragging my hate for him around is just gonna affect me badly in the long run, so I'm just dropping the baggage right now. He don't deserve shit from anyone with the way he treats them, so that's that.

 

Anyways, on to good stuff, I got a 'geeky' parcel through the post this morning. IT FINALLY CAME!! Yeah, you've guessed it by now if you know me, it's another Star Trek model..lol!

 

 

 

          

Only 3000 of these worldwide as it's a version that was only used once in the very first episode (That didn't star William Shatner. The Captain was played by 'Jeffrey Hunter') so I'm chuffed that it came today. Another one to the collection..lol!

 

I also bought myself a new windows vista compatible webcam today, so I can chat to friends and do more vids and stuff now..woo hoo! Since having Vista, it's annoyed me endlessly that I couldn't use my cam, but now I can, so in your face vista!! lol!

 

Been walking round with 3 finger bandages and an arm support today for my right hand after the door attacked me yesterday....lol! I thought my knuckles would be the worse affected, but to be honest, it's mainly my middle finger, my wrist, my elbow and shoulder that I've damaged. This shows me that I don't punch correctly, even in temper, because none of these areas should've took the brunt of 3 punches!  I felt like such a twit walking around town with one finger and thumb sticking out of this mummified arm..lol! My friends certainly thought it was hilarious anyways....idiots..lol! It'll be funny tomorrow working the tills at work with my only good finger..lol!

Tornado warning (17/7/07)

 

 

Sheffield was put on tornado warning today (for real!), but little did I know that the tornado would be me. I'm not going into it all as people tend to judge when they don't know the whole story (which is very long and complicated) but I took my anger and temper out on a door and have almost broken my hand. My wrist feels like it's in pieces! Anthony had to drag me away from the scene, and if I'm honest, I'm glad he did, because I'm scared of what might've happened next. I went to work shortly after, only to be sent home after my duty manager saw my hand and realised the state I was in. I'm just at a total loss. Please, nobody tell me to take deep breaths and calm down because that's impossible. You don't know the situation, and I'm so fed up of people telling me to 'think of your mother'. Who the hell's thinking of me?! People are allowed to treat me however they like, yet I can't say anything incase it upsets my Mum. If everyone thought of my Mum as people tell me to, then I wouldn't have to argue in the first place. It's just like, Adam (my older brother) and Adrian can shit on me all they want, and I just have to stay quiet about it? Who tells them to think of my mother in all of this?! Even though I don't wanna be here, I'm no guest in this house. It's my home. I've been here for years, way longer than Adrian, and my brother's never lived here at all! Me and Mum have got through more than either of those could imagine. I've been here through thick and thin for years, then suddenly Adrian comes over and our past gets forgotten about! Also, Adam comes back with a chip on his shoulder after leaving us in a pile of shit for years, then everything's suddenly all about him! Who the hell do these people think they are? Adrian's in his 40's, my brother's 28, yet I'm the only one with the big enough balls to think of anyone else but myself in all of this, and I'm sick of it, so sick of it! Sorry for the rant, but it's gotta come out someplace, and my hand hasn't got the strength for another attack against a door! I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I had the money and the means, I'd be on the first plane out of here today and the only people that I'd miss would be my Mum and Anthony, not to mention the animals, but everyone else can rot in hell for all I care!

 

I thought big brothers' were supposed to look after their little brothers'? Isn't that what they do?! I have no brother anymore. My brother left for Nottingham one day years ago and came back as the selfish sod who stole my house from me and forced me to live in a house with a man that I wouldn't piss on if he was on fire!

 

Pardon my language, but it's gotta come out somewhere.

 

And what's worse, he knows all the trouble that this is causing but wont do ANYTHING to help! Oh, I could kill him!

 

This entry is for my own release so don't comment if you don't want to, and please, nobody tell me to think of my mother or to calm down. That's all I ask, but like I say, if nobody comments at all, I understand and it wont really make a difference anyway.

Tesco stores close after threats

Vigilance urged over Tesco threat

Reader James Collins photographed a shut Tesco in Kirkcaldy, Fife Police have urged shoppers to be "vigilant at all times" after threats forced 14 Tesco stores to shut. Police closed the shops across the UK on Saturday afternoon but they reopened for normal trading on Sunday. Hertfordshire Police, which is leading the investigation, said each store had been searched and given the all-clear. "There is still no reason to believe that the incidents are linked to extremism of any kind," the constabulary added. One line of inquiry is of a possible financial motive behind the threats. The supermarket giant is understood to have lost millions of pounds in sales as the 14 stores were forced to shut. Hertfordshire Police said the stores were closed on Saturday as a precaution and no-one had been hurt. Tesco is continuing to work closely with police, it added. 'Go home' One store in Barnes, south west London, reopened on Saturday evening. Tesco stores were closed in Port Talbot, south Wales, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, and Market Harborough and Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire. Other branches shut down were in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk; Hucknall, Notts; Hereford and Ledbury, both in Herefordshire; and Barnes, south west London. It came over the tannoy that we were asked to leave - basically, go to the cashier, pay for your groceries and then leave Martin Jacklin, Tesco customer ^ (I love how they asked the customers to PAY for their groceries first, before leaving the premises as their lives were at risk...money grabbing sods!)   And some Scottish branches of the supermarket were also closed in East Renfrewshire and Fife. Other stores were closed in regions covered by the Lancashire and Humberside police forces. Darren, an employee from the Ashby de la Zouch store, said staff were told to evacuate the shop. "We were allowed to go back in to get our belongings," he said. "We had to be as quick as we possibly could. "We were informed briefly that the store was going to be closed for the rest of the day and we could go home straight away." Martin Jacklin was shopping in a Tesco store in Hucknall, Notts, when shoppers were told to take to vacate the premises. He said: "Me, the wife and the children were in there, basically just doing a normal shop and it came over the tannoy that we were asked to leave, basically, go to the cashier, pay for your groceries and then leave. A spokeswoman from Hertfordshire Police said the force was leading the nationwide "criminal investigation" because the retailer has its headquarters in the county.

 

Anyone else think that I picked the wrong time to start working here? Lol! Nah, I doubt that anything will happen, but it's just a scary thought.

 

Oh and I just found out that Tesco's have opened their first US store in Arizona. Hmm....I'm thinking TRANSFER! lol!

A moment of thought

 

I was reading a story in the paper today. A British guy's tank was crippled by a land mine thanks to the 'Al Quaeda', killing everyone else on board. He was being burned alive, but managed to climb out of the tank to remove his burning clothes and armour. He then managed to run 80 metres to hide behind a wall, but was then shot in the leg! He stumbled to the floor and rolled around in the soil to put out his burning skin, only for this to lead to major infections from the actual soil into his skin.

 

His Fiancee (back in the UK) was told on the phone while she was having her hair cut in a salon. 'Your Husband is seriously injured and will be returning to the UK tomorrow'. She didn't know what to expect. He was comatose for months and received major burns to 70% of his body. His face had to be re-built. She was at his bedside for months while he just lay there. He actually died twice but they managed to bring him back. His fiancee had almost given up hope, when one day, he opened his eyes and said 'Hey babe..How are you?'. Can you imagine how relieved she must've felt?! He's fine now, apart from the obvious physical damage, but this really hit me. Kinda puts things into perspective right? Those poor soldiers and innocent people out there getting killed or injured everyday. When's this gonna stop? The world is insane!!!

Honoured and Stressed!

 

Since last night, I've been enroled as a member of the 'Official Bitch club' by Donna and also gained an award from our Lyn for being a 'Rockin man blogger'! Thanks girls!!! They mean a lot to me and have really cheered me up today.

                       

 

 

                                 

 

Well, I'm working again in a few hours as I'm covering a shift for Natalie at work. She's asked everyone over the last 2 weeks to cover her shift as she's going away to London for a few days, but nobody was able to do it. How could I say no? lol!

Feeling a bit stressed today as Mum's husband is obsessing about money. We're doing our best to make sure we pay our way and finish paying off money which we owe to Mum and Adrian, but our efforts never seem to be enough for him. Always nitpicking...always obsessing about EVERY single penny...constantly down my throat and I just can't handle it! It's making my life miserable and I hate feeling HATE!

Earlier today for example, it's my grandma's birthday today and I haven't been able to go out and get her anything, so as Mum had bought her quite a few things, I asked if I could buy one of them from her to give to grandma from me and Anthony. I chose this new 4 disc Rod Stewart album which was £10. I then transferred £20 from my bank account and into Mum's. £10 for what I owe her for the Rod Stewart album, and £10 for my bus fare to work as I have no money on me. I heard her explain this to Adrian, and he said 'I want to check your bank account first', implying that I hadn't really given her any money at all!  I mean, AS IF I would lie and rip my own Mum off! I'm disgusted and can't believe he thinks I'm capable of doing that to my own Mother. Who the hell does he think I am?! I can't see me being here much longer, cos if I stay, there will probably be more trouble, and none of us need it. Gawd, I just wish I had some sort of a plan, cos the way I'm feeling, I'd pack up and move to bloody Mexico if I could..ANYWHERE but here!

Anyways, I'm listening to Shania now, and you know that she always cheers me up, so I'm rockin my ass off!! WOO HOO! LOL!

Jaffa Cakes - Deliciously self centred

The original recipe for McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes is a closely guarded secret, the delicious combination of light sponge, dark chocolate and smashing orangey bit in the middle was first created over 60 years ago.

Back in 1991, we fought a battle with the VAT man to prove that Jaffa Cakes are cakes, not biscuits, and therefore should not attract VAT.

In 1994 McVitie’s launched Mini Jaffa Cakes and Jaffa Cake Bars, to appeal to the growing lunchbox market. 1999 saw the introduction of the innovative ‘Tubes’ packaging and 2002 was the year of the Jaffa Mini Roll launch.

Jaffa Cakes are known for being irresistible but unfortunately, not everyone is prepared to get their Jaffa Cakes honestly. Remember the Munchkins, who would do almost anything to get hold of them! They were followed by another desperate mob in the 1990’s known as the Orangey Tangs who loved the orangey bit in the middle so much so we had to completely cover the Jaffa Cakes in chocolate, for a limited time, to keep them out.

The Jaffa Cakes brand team scored a McVitie’s first in July 2000, when they signed a sponsorship deal with Manchester United. Jaffa Cakes became one of Man Utd’s eleven ‘platinum’ sponsors but the only one focussing on kids in the UK. Jaffa Cakes were already enjoyed by the team and were officially launched as the teams favourite half time snack. The campaign’s success was based on the product truth that Jaffa Cakes are low in fat and high in carbohydrates and so are a great energy provider.

It was for this very reason that Sven announced that Jaffa Cakes would join the England squad in Japan for the 2002 World Cup as part of their training diet. The publicity was amazing, culminating in a spectacular story of a McVitie’s Jaffa Cake being found with the face of David Beckham, the team captain, on it!!!

In 2006 the fact that each Jaffa Cake is only 1g of fat has featured in the new advertising.

Ok, so those aren't my words, but they do speak the truth. Now for my version:

 

Jaffa Cakes are a pile of chocolatey fun that make me squirm with ecstacy and joy. Seeing a pile of these critters brightens up my day, no matter what. It's got me through floods, terrorism, traffic jams, work, no work, and even play, YES, PLAY! They're small and compact so that you can fit half a dozen in your mouth at any one time, and believe me, I do! It's better to just put put one in your mouth though, then you can suck off the chocolate and you are left with the wibbly wobbly, but gorgeous jelly part inside (these Jelly parts come in all different flavours). You can then take out this deliciously floppy wibbly wobbly jelly part and eat it, or if you so wish for humourous effect, slap your friend across the face with it! One swift slap will make everyone chuckle! I must warn you though, not all friends will find this amusing!!! Either way, Jaffa Cakes are fun and nibbly! GO BUY SOME TODAY!

I know, I have no idea what I'm talking about either, but sometimes, that's the way questions go. How many times can someone pop back into your life before they vanish forever? Will they eventually vanish? They don't have to. How do I know that they wont stick around for good? Why do they make a fuss about wanting to go, and then always come back, huh? There's no answer is there, but what the hell...lol!

 

The same feeling hits me when I think of life in general. I mean, why have I sat here tonight watching "Roswell" on my pc when I really wanna go to bed? Why have I made several typo's in this entry already when I usually don't make many? What would I be doing if I was famous and rich? Hmm...Would I be out on a yacht somewhere? Would I be at some celebrity bash and drinking with Paris Hilton? Would Paris know how much I hate her? Maybe, just maybe I'd be sat in my big house with Anthony, playing pool with a glass of wine, surrounded by gorgeous men with no t-shirts on, OR I could be dining out with Goldie Hawn and telling her how much I loved her in 'The First Wives Club'?

 

So what is this entry about? I HAVE NO IDEA, BUT IT FEELS GREAT..lol!

 

So anyways, things are going great here, besides me eating faaar too much junk food lately. Jaffa cakes rule! Mum and Adrian are away in Ireland, so me and Ant are enjoying the time in the house alone. Well, if you can call it being alone with 5 cats, 3 dogs, 4 fish, and a large hedgehog??

 

Been thinking about the future a lot lately, and ya know, I've decided that I'm definitely going to the USA someday. I'd love to live there for a few months, work there, see what it's like, and still be able to get back home afterwards. I got a lotta planning to do huh?!

Strange 4th July comment......

 

I had an email from someone I know over in the USA earlier. I can't tell if he's trying to pick a fight or what. Here's what he said...

Is it just me, or does that seem odd?! Also today, I've noted that some people just HAVE to start picking pieces away and causing arguments about historical things. Look, I have no interest in hearing people gloat in my face about how Americans regained their independence from the UK a long time ago. I love America and if I were still me and alive back then, I would've wanted you to get your independence too! This whole thing of 'Haha, we won you' and also ('We saved your ass in the war') means bugger all to me as I WASN'T EVEN THERE. Nobody 'WON' me or anyone else I know personally. I wasn't even alive, and neither were any of the people who do the gloating. You did nothing personally during that time, so why are you trying to pick a fight? lol! Also, about the war, I'm so glad Americans helped us back then, just as I'd hope we'd help America at the same time. Honestly, do you honestly think that I sit and kick myself over Americans gaining their independence?! I'm bloody glad you did! lol!

So why this need to try and start a feud over things that are long gone? I mean, get over it?!

 

I'd just like to note that this message is only to THOSE people that I'm talking about, not Americans in general, and I'm sorry if this has offended anyone.

 

Honestly, SOME PEOPLE! Grrr!

 

Long live America, and the UK, and Australia, and Canada, and Ireland, and France, and Germany, and Brazil, and....see my point here? lol!

 

Umm...general chit chat kinda stuff, basically.....

 

It's been a great day today. No particular reason, but I'm healthy, have friends, family, a roof, a job.....what else can I want? Plus it wasn't SO busy at work today, and I actually managed to talk to customers and other staff, rather than rushing through everything..lol!

 

The staff are really nice and I've made some good friends. I like how the gay people are just normal people, rather than those that I don't get along with. Ya know, the queeny bitchy ones? That sounds awful, but I don't mean it to. I'm stereotyping here, and badly, but I know what I mean. Infact, it's those kind of gay guys that DON'T get along with me. I mean, I'll talk to anyone really, but sometimes we just clash and all the queeny types seem to hate me. No loss though..lol!

 

Anyways, I was given a friendly lecture by a friend at work today after they heard me tell a woman who was short of a few pence for her shopping that I'd 'Make up the difference' at the end of my shift. Now, I don't see the problem. It was a matter of 20 odd pence and I could've easily put it into my till at any time afterwards, so why the big deal?! The lecture's made me not want to do that again, but I'll feel awful. I don't understand certain rules and procedures. Sometimes, they're too strict with everything and it's suffocating! Honestly, was I in the wrong?! If I was just telling her not to pay, then yeah, but if I'm gonna make up the difference then why's it so wrong? Doesn't anyone believe in being 'Nice' to anyone anymore??!!

 

Anyways, my singing is still sizzling in the background lately and is becoming more an an issue for me. It's ALL I think about now! I've not had much time to practise properly but I do sing ALL the time when I'm out and about, under my breath maybe, but I DO sing..lol! I also do my vocal lessons every now and then too. I'm excited lately because someone who works in a recording studio wants to record me and help me get my stuff 'out there'. He also wants me to be part of the show he's hosting at Christmas, so I'll keep you updated.

 

Also, our talented Morgan from 'Random Thoughts' has written a song for me to sing. She's done the music on her keyboard and given me half of the lyrics, and she's asked me to write the other half and sing it! Isn't that a great idea?! I can't wait. That's what I love about music...Creating, rather than copying! Singing along to backing tracks is ok and I love it, but nothing compares to singing original material...WOO HOO, thanks Morgan!!

Evening J-Landians!!

 

I have a dodgy stomach tonight. It's doing summersaults and my head's spinning. Euuggghh, I feel naucious!! Just wondering whether to phone in sick for work tomorrow....dunno. I'll see how I go eh?

 

'Meadowhall' Shopping Centre opened it's doors for the first time since last Monday's floods today, and me being the budding journaller went down to check it out. I was kinda disappointed as there wasn't anything to take pictures of. Instead, I was subjected to the WORST smell in history. Ya see, Meadowhall was built next to 'Blackburn Meadows' which is a water reclamation (is that the right word?) plant. All of us locals know it lovingly as 'The Shitbeds'. When the river Don burst it's banks (right next to Meadowhall), the 'Shitbeds' also flooded, causing all the toxic waste filled waters to come pouring into Meadowhall. They've done a good job cleaning up, but it still stinks. All of the shopping centre's bottom floor shops are closed. It's incredible how much damage this has caused. Every shop is boarded up now. Every shop is being re-fitted as all the floorboards have been ripped up, stock destroyed, shelves, carpets...everything is gone. That has to be like....over 500 stores maybe?!!  I dunno..maybe that's exaggerated, but I'm not sure.

 

What's even worse is that there's nothing to stop this from ever happening again, despite them having a £2 million flood defense system put in before last weeks floods!! (So I've been told)

The weekend has gone MUCH smoother than expected. We were subjected to severe weather warnings due to heavy rains, but we've had nothing more than the odd heavy shower now and then. Looks like we can calm down now.

 

The general atmosphere in Sheffield has been strange this week. Walking through town earlier was so depressing. Looks like the floods affected more than just properties!

 

I got quite angry earlier when I was in Meadowhall bus station with Anthony. I went to ask a member of staff where I was allowed to smoke now (as the smoking ban came into force on July 1st), and a bunch of 5 staff there told me that I have to walk off the premises. 'But, if I walk from the premises, I'll miss my bus', I said. They all just kinda shrugged their shoulders. That got me angry and led to me to say 'This is F***ing ridiculous!'. I've NEVER swore at staff ANYWHERE like that before and I feel awful now, but it just got me so mad. I wanted a cig OUTSIDE in an area that nobody was standing, yet that's not good enough?! As I've said before, in enclosed areas, yes I do agree with the ban, but certainly not in the outdoors where nobody's going to be in your immediate vicinity! It's a good job my bus came quickly 'cos I was about to sod their policies and spark up! lol! I could've got fined? So what..I'm a gay man on the edge lately..LOL!

 

Anyways, I'm moaning AGAIN. That's ALL I ever seem to do lately...moan, moan, whinge, whinge..LOL!

 

Did I tell you my stomach is dodgy tonight?? Did I tell you that we've been flooded lately?? lol!

The Sheffield Floods - 25/06/07

 

Things seem to have calmed down here in Sheffield.

 

Monday's flooding came as such a shock. None of us knew what was happening. We lost power, internet, phone lines, and mobile phone lines all at once. Some homes were left without power for days. Traffic lights had stopped working so the roads were chaotic to say the least. I can't believe what I saw from some drivers eager to break out of the traffic jams they'd been stuck in for hours. I understand their frustration (cos I was stuck too at one point with Anthony and my friend Hannah) but it was scary to see how this affected everyone, namely drivers!

 

 

I was on a double decker bus stuck in traffic as it crossed the 'Lady bridge' in town. We were heading home and at that point, none of were aware of what was happening. To us, it'd just been a horrible and wet couple of days, but then the river caught my eye and it soon became apparent what was happening. I can't believe I saw the river water level SO high and actually seeping onto the streets!!

Anyways, all is well now but we have been given severe weather warnings for heavy rain today and tomorrow, but today wasn't as bad as they made out, so we'll see. 

 

My heart goes out to the 3 people who were killed that day.
